Dale S. Blonigen

Dale Blonigen passed away on Friday, October 29, 2010, at the age of 52 years, at his home in Carrington, N.D.

Dale Stephen Blonigen was born March 11, 1958, in Minot, N.D., to Clarence and Evangeline "Angie" (Volk) Blonigen. Dale grew up and attended grade school in Harvey, N.D. His family later moved to Fordville, N.D., where he attended middle school and high school. His senior year, the family moved back to Harvey, and he graduated from Harvey High School in 1976. He went on to earn his Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Political Science from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 1980.

Following school, Dale worked for the Soo Line for many years, and became the Municipal Court Judge for Harvey from 1986 to 1989. Dale then accepted a position with 4th Corporation, working there for 19 years. During that time he had the opportunity to make a difference in the lives of many people.

Dale was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Carrington, and at one time was a 4th Degree knight with the Knights of Columbus. To those who knew him, he was a man of strength, integrity, kindness, generosity and faith. He enjoyed cooking, reading and spending time with his family who adored him.

Dale's memory will live on in the hearts of those he left behind.

He is survived by: his mother, Angie, Carrington, N.D.; his sister, Mary Kay Nelson and her husband David, Carrington, N.D.; a nephew, Ryan (Christin) Nelson, Larimore, N.D.; 2 nieces, Erin (Jeff) Kummer, Jamestown, N.D., and Sara (Dean) Pennington, Carrington, N.D.; 2 great nephews, Peyton Nelson and Tyler Nelson, Larimore, N.D.

Dale was preceded in death by his father, Clarence; grandparents, Steve and Veronica Volk, and Phillip and Elizabeth Blonigen; and an infant great-nephew, Grady Nelson.

Funeral Service: Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, at 10:30 a.m., Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Carrington, N.D

Interment: Rosehill Memorial Park, Minot, N.D., Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.

Visitation and prayer service: Visitation today, Nov. 1, from 1 to 7 p.m., with a prayer service at 7 p.m., both at Evans Funeral Home, Carrington, N.D. Visitation will continue Tuesday, one hour before the service, at the church.
