NEW TOWN - A Parshall woman was killed Thursday morning when the pickup she was driving failed to stop at a stop sign and was struck by an oncoming service truck.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Amanda Hart, 22, was driving a 1991 Chevrolet pickup northbound on 73rd Avenue Northwest, a gravel road, at 6:30 a.m. when she disregarded a stop sign at the intersection of N.D. Highway 23 about 16 miles east of New Town.
The driver of the 2006 Ford F-650 service truck, James Reynolds, 32, of Williston, turned right and braked in an attempt to avoid a collision, but the left front of the service truck hit the pickup.
Hart, who was not wearing a seat belt, was ejected from the vehicle.
Neither Reynolds nor any of his three passengers, who were all wearing seat belts, were injured in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation.
