NEW TOWN A groundbreaking ceremony will be held today at 11 a.m. south of the Three Affiliated Tribes' Administration Building for a TERO Energy Building. The ceremony is open to the public.
TERO stands for the Tribal Employment Rights Office.
Charles Foote, TERO administrator, said the four-story building will house five of the tribal energy-related departments. TERO will be located on the top floor of the building. The building will have 50,000 square feet.
"It will be state of the art," Foote said. He said each department will have its own meeting room plus there will be a conference room for use by all to accommodate 100 people. It will also have an informational center and study sites for oil companies.
The tribally funded project will cost about $8 million.
Construction will start this fall, Foote said. He said the project is scheduled to be completed in one year, depending on the weather.
Engineer for the project is Shingobee and the architect is HTG Architects, both of Minneapolis. Denby Deegan, of White Shield and Bismarck, is the cultural design architect.
The Tribal Administration Building is located west of New Town on the Four Bears Peninsula.
