Duane and Clara Schell of Minot will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary at an open house Saturday, June 26, from 2 to 5 p.m. in Our Savior Lutheran Church, 3705-11th St. SW. Their children and grandchildren are hosting the event.
Clara Weber and Duane Schell were married June 18, 1960, in St. John's Lutheran Church in McClusky. He worked for Westland Oil Co. in Minot and owned and operated the Velva Parts Store in Velva. She taught school in various places and taught piano for more than 40 years in Minot. She also owned and operated the first musical kindergarten in North Dakota, Schell's Musical Kindergarten, in Minot.
Their children are Jeff Schell, Rapid City, S.D.; Greg Schell, Minot; and Leanne Pepperworth, Brookings, S.D. The couple has eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
