Donald L. Pederson, 77, Minot, died Saturday, April 10, 2010, in a Minot hospital.

Don was born Oct. 9, 1932, to Lawrence and Thelma (Skjelstad) Pederson in Tioga. He grew up on the family farm and graduated from Tioga High School. He married Loreen Halgrimson on Feb. 19, 1954. They resided in McGregor and Tioga where he owned a Texaco station.

He served as a volunteer fireman in Tioga and was very active in the Jaycees where he received the Distinguished Service Award. He also served as a church deacon and taught Sunday school in McGregor. In 1967, he and his family moved to Minot where he owned and managed Campus Texaco. He later worked for various companies as a salesman, eventually starting his own chemical business, D & L Specialties.

Don loved farming and continued to help his father farm even after moving to Minot. After his father passed away, he continued to have numerous garden plots that he worked in every summer. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and attending all of their activities. He loved basketball, having played in high school, and tried to attend all the Minot State women's and men's games as well as the Class B tournament games. He thoroughly enjoyed the games and visiting with all the people who regularly attended the games.

He was a past member of the Elks Lodge, Eagles Aerie, Golden K Kiwanis, the Garden Club and volunteered many years at the Norsk Hostfest.

Don continued to work until the day he died. He was a bus driver for the Commission on Aging and then for Souris Basin Transportation and worked at Kmart on his days off. He loved to keep active.

Don is survived by: his wife, Loreen, Minot; daughters, Candace (James) Reilly, West Fargo, and Tracy (David) Dachs, Minot; son, Brian Pederson, Bismarck; grandchildren, Dereck Ostdahl, Ashley Ostdahl, Brittany Ostdahl, all Minot, and Brad Pederson and Rachel Pederson, both Bismarck; stepgrandchildren, David (Shana) Dachs Jr., Boulder, Mont., Adam (Christa Dahlien) Reilly, Lawrence, Kan., and Edana Reilly, St. Cloud, Minn.; stepgreat- grandchild, Evie Dachs; brothers, Lloyd (Evelyn) Pederson, Stockton, Calif., and Larry (Orabelle) Pederson, Tioga; sister, Karen (Laurence) Jorgensen, Williston; sister-in-law, Carole Pederson, Mercer Island, Wash.; aunts, Adeline Pederson, Margaret Pederson and Clarice Pederson, all of Williston; and numerous cousins, nephews and nieces.

Don was preceded in death by: his parents, Lawrence and Thelma; brothers, Lawrence Jr., Joey and Allyn Dale; sister, Amie Pederson; as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Funeral: Wednesday, April 14, at 1 p.m., in St. Mark's Lutheran Church, Minot.

Interment: A private family interment will take place at a later date.

Visitation: Today (Tuesday) from 3 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Memorials: In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
