The 24th annual Prairie Warrior Association Auction raised more than $34,000 for Minot Air Force Base.
Sponsored by the Minot Area Chamber of Commerce's Military Affairs Committee, the auction was held March 27 in the Holiday Inn-Riverside in Minot.
The auction is held to show the community's support for the men and women at Minot AFB. Money raised goes to support base teams, squadron activities, annual awards banquets and Operation Warmheart, a year-round program providing essentials such as food, clothing, etc., to needy service members and their families as well as Thanksgiving baskets during the holidays. The funds also support the base's Northern Neighbors Day open house.

People attending the 24th annual Prairie Warrior Association Auction participate in the event as auctioneer John Bearman, Minot, conducts the bidding for an item. The auction was held March 27 in the Minot Holiday Inn-Riverside.
John Bearman, Minot, was the auctioneer. This is the fourth year he has volunteered his time to serve as auctioneer for the event. However, on that Saturday he had two auctions to conduct the Prairie Warrior Auction in the evening and earlier in the day he filled in for another auctioneer who could not participate in an auction.
Betty Fedorchak, chairwoman of the Prairie Warrior Auction for 23 of its 24 years, said many businesses, organizations and individuals who donated items to the auction and those who donated their time to it made it such a success.
During the past years through this year, the auction has raised more than $400,000 to benefit Minot AFB.
The auction is held each year in late March.
