NEW TOWN A longtime law enforcement officer on the Fort Berthold Reservation who the correctional facility in New Town was named for has died.
Gerald "Tex" Fox, of Mandaree, died Wednesday in a Bismarck hospital at the age of 59.
Fox had a long career in law enforcement and service to the public. His law enforcement career included serving as captain of the Bureau of Indian Affairs Law Enforcement. He was retired from law enforcement.
The correctional facility in New Town was named in Fox's honor the Gerald "Tex" Fox Justice Center. A multi-use facility, the justice center has jail space for both adult and juvenile offenders and also houses police and Tribal Court.
