Betty N. Bold

Betty N. Bold, 81, of Carrington, N.D., passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Saturday, Dec. 26, 2009, at Medcenter One, Bismarck, N.D. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday Jan. 2, 2010, at the Federated Church, 775 2nd St. N. in Carrington. Cremation has already taken place.

Betty, daughter of Gustav and Martha (Okert) Nording, was born Nov. 6, 1928, in McClusky, N.D. She was raised on a farm near Chaseley, N.D., and graduated from McClusky High School.

On July 27, 1947, she married Forrest E. Bold and later moved to Carrington, where they raised their five children. She worked for the Foster County State Bank and the Foster County Insurance Agency.

Betty was a Past Worthy Grand Matron of The Order of Eastern Star for the state of North Dakota (1985-86). She held other offices in the North Dakota and Carrington Chapter of Eastern Star. Betty also volunteered for the Hospital Auxilary on both the state and local levels. She was involved with the Carrington Airport Authority, the Federated Church Board, and the Federated Guild.

She is survived by: three sons and two daughters: Timothy, Carrington, Richard (RoxsAnne), of Lincoln, David (Sandra), Mt. Washington, Ky., Michelle Hager, Carrington, Roberta Jo (Carey) Koch, Mandan; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; two sisters, Gloria Gerbi, Tucson, Ariz., Arleen "Tiny" (Don) Hutchinson, Bozeman, Mont.; and one sister-in-law, Jean Nording, Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers and one sister: Heber, Lester, Douglas, Wayne, Larry and Gladys.
