Blanche ‘Sis’ Vesey

Blanche "Sis" Vesey, 92, of Stanley, N.D., died Saturday, Dec. 19, 2009, in a Stanley nursing home. Funeral services are scheduled for today, Dec. 22, 2009, at 2 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Palermo, N.D. Visitation is today from 9 a.m. to noon at Springan Funeral Home, Stanley.

Blanche was born Dec. 10, 1917, at Palermo, to Harry and Ella (Dokken) Grinolds. She attended grade school at Palermo and graduated from Blaisdell High School. Blanche married Kenneth Dyrland on June 18, 1937, in Stanley. They began farming on the Dyrland farm south of Palermo. Later they purchased and moved to a nearby farm where they raised their family. Kenneth passed away Aug. 12, 1975.

Blanche married Ronald Vesey on Oct. 27, 1977, in Sidney, Mont. They lived on the Vesey farm southwest of Blaisdell before retiring in Stanley. During retirement, they enjoyed traveling and spending winters in Arizona.

Blanche was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Palermo and a charter member of the Burke Hustler Homemaker Club.

Blanche is survived by: her husband, Ronald, of Stanley; daughter, Bonnie Alford, Billings, Mont.; daughter-in-law, Ellen Davidson, Devils Lake, N.D.; sister, Hazel Grinolds, Roseville, Calif.; brothers, Robert (Gladys) Grinolds, Palermo, Douglas (Vivian) Grinolds, of Craig, Colo.; nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; stepchildren, Marilyn (Vern) Halvorson, Aurora, Colo., Naomi (Charles) Sylvester, Sparks, Nev., Doug (Shirley) Vesey, Plaza, N.D., Curtis (Martha) Vesey, Casselton, N.D.; and 11 stepgrandchildren.

Blanche was preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Ella; husband, Kenneth; sons, Jerry and Rickey; sister, Marjorie Slemin; and brothers, Harold and Donald.
