Monica Wieland
April 13, 1953 -Dec. 3, 2009Monica Marie Wieland, 56, Newburg, died on Thursday, Dec. 3, 2009, in the Trinity Health Cancer Care Cottage in the care of her loving husband and Trinity Hospice.
Monica was born April 13, 1953, in Minot, to Lloyd and Marge Sund. She was raised and educated in Newburg and graduated from Newburg High School. Monica was employed at Sund Manufacturing in Newburg, working for her family in their business.
On March 11, 1978, at the Dovre Lutheran Church in Newburg, she married Gayle, her husband of 31 years. Through their marriage and travels, Monica worked as a bank teller as they moved about the country.
Monica was a member of Dovre Lutheran Church in Newburg, where she was active with the church circle, ladies aid, and teaching Sunday school to the younger children. It was one of her passions to introduce the little children to God and all his wonders.
Monica enjoyed reading, studying her Bible, watching and feeding birds, spending time in her flower garden, camping, and spending time with her little white dog, Chance.
Monica's loving family includes: her husband, Gayle of Newburg; son, Jered (Lana) Wieland of Chicago; stepsons, John (Kim) Wieland of Pittsburgh, and Curt (Heidi) Wieland of Menomonie, Wis.; mother, Marge Sund of Newburg; sisters and brothers-in-law, Suzanne Sund and James Klundt of Bismarck, Pam Sund and Mark Herschlip of Fargo, Sandra Sund and Brad Berentson of Westhope; brothers, Charles and Nancy Sund of Fargo, Fred Sund of Newburg, and Paul and Deanne Sund of Newburg; grandchildren, Jacob and James Wieland, Henry and Catherine Wieland, Brett and Jordan Wieland; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Monica was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd "LP" Sund; and grandparents, Fred and Viva Sund, and Albert and Olga Christenson.
Memorial service: Wednesday, Dec. 9, 2009, at 2 p.m. in Dovre Lutheran Church, Newburg.
Book signing: Tuesday, Dec. 8, from noon until 5 p.m. in the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
