MSU signs volleyball, softball star
The Minot State University fastpitch softball and volleyball programs landed a two-sport star by signing Jen Dixon of Vincent Massey High School of Brandon, Man., the school announced Tuesday.
As a softball player, Dixon is a lefty hitter, who throws right. She pitches and has the ability to play both at shortstop and in the outfield.
"We are very happy that Jen has chosen MSU," Beavers softball coach Bill Triplett said. "She has speed, hits left-handed and can play about anywhere you ask her to, as well as pitch. We've had our eye on her for three years now so we're ecstatic that she's signed with us."
As a volleyball player, Dixon is a left side hitter that has been named MVP of many tournaments. She played on the Brandon University club team for four years and was a member of the National Champions Storm team in 2009.
"We are really looking forward to Dixon joining our volleyball program," MSU head volleyball coach Johnna Lewis said. "She is going to make an immediate impact and help build our program."
