NEW ROCKFORD The holiday show at New Rockford's Opera House is not a Christmas show this year, director Deb Belquist said.

Instead the musical romp, called "Cold Feet," centers around a group of bachelors who haven't been able to connect to committed romantic relationships.

"They have formed a band, called Cold Feet, which is the title of the play, too," Belquist said. "This is their big night. The band has gathered at Hanson's Bar, set in New Rockford, to record a radio show."

"The original play, written in Michigan by people from there, had a setting with many references to that area," Belquist said. "But we got their permission to change it to a North Dakota setting, which our audiences are enjoying."

Musicians

The musicians include Jay Bauer of Carrington, and Mark Brown, Brian McGraw, Morgan Lies and Javan Arroyo, all of New Rockford.

"The play digs into their histories, secrets, old wounds and ultimately their most basic fear: women," she said.

The band and its plan run into a serious and funny road block when one of the committed bachelors proves to lack a little in commitment, the director said.

She said "Cold Feet" has fun, original music which leans toward country-western and ballads, with a new songs being a major attraction for the play.

"It's essentially a guitar show with McGraw on guitar and Arroyo on bass," Belquist said.

"Cold Feet" runs Fridays and Saturdays, beginning at 7:30 p.m. in the Opera House, and Sundays at 2:30 p.m. through Dec. 20, except for Dec. 18.

Tickets, $19 each, are available by calling 947-2174 or logging on at (www.dprca.com). Reservations are encouraged, especially for performances later in the play's run, Belquist said.
