Aggies land four on first team

GRAND FORKS - State Class A champion Velva landed four players on the Class A All-State first team, selected by the state's coaches.

On offense, quarterback Jon Mack and running back Michael Wiest earned first team status, while Collin Kittelson and Codee Lee were named to the first team defense.

In all, seven area players were selected on the first team as Trey Jacobson and Ben Haugeberg were selected from Watford City. Harvey's Casey Weinmann and Tyler Fandrich were also named from Region 3, while Chase Enget of Stanley-Powers Lake and Baylee Carr of Hazen earned offensive first team honors from Region 4.

Garret Engebretson and Brent Sorenson of Hazen were named to the first team on the defensive side of the ball, while Derek Thompson of Watford City, Jared Vejtasa of Williams County and Dallas Oen of Des Lacs-Burlington were named first team defense.

North Prairie, which lost to Langdon-Munich in the semifinals, had Nic Pfeifer named to the first team on offense and Carl Nelson on defense.
