CANDO Harley Adrian Volden, 87, Cando, died Thursday, Nov. 19, 2009, in his home.

He was born July 29, 1922, to Carl and Alfreda Volden near Devils Lake. He enlisted in the Army in 1942 and served in the European Theater during World War II. He was discharged in 1945. He married Delores Lunde July 28, 1946, in Devils Lake.

Survivors: wife; daughters, Marilyn Matthews, Milford, Calif., Lavonne Matthews, Catherine Miller and Sandra Volden, all Cando, Cheryl Widman of Reynolds, Connie Smith, Cranberry Portage, Man.; sons, Warren, Grand Forks, Jerry, Cando; 20 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; sisters, Audrey Erickson, Vancouver, Wash., Carol Solseth, Portland, Ore.

Funeral: Wednesday, 10:30 a.m., Cando Lutheran Church.

Burial: Norway Lutheran Cemetery, rural Penn.

Prayer service: Today, 7 p.m., in Dunnigan-Dix Funeral Home, Cando.

Visitation: Today, 2 to 8 p.m., in the funeral home.
