Park River-Fordville-Lankin's big hitter finally broke loose.

Senior Lexi Erickson exploded for 21 kills, two aces and 16 digs as the Aggies swept Harvey 3-0 (25-21, 25-21, 25-19) in a consolation match of the state Class B volleyball tournament Friday at the Minot State University Dome.

The win comes a day after the Aggies lost 3-0 to Hazen in the tournament's opening round.

"We played more confidently," Erickson said. "(Thursday) we were playing scared, nervous. We knew we had to come out and play better than we did then."

The Aggies did it without 6-foot-1 middle Tessa Zahradka, who suffered a high ankle sprain against Hazen. Zahradka, a senior, led the team in blocks with 126 coming into the tournament.

"Tessa came into our locker room when we were getting ready and we were really excited to see her. We hadn't seen her since the game (Thursday)," Erickson said. "(With her out) we had to change our whole rotation. There were people playing in spots they never played before."

Junior Sheyenne Schneider had 12 kills and junior Maggie Lorenz added 10 more for Harvey, which lost its second straight match after entering the tournament 37-0.

Harvey had trouble at the end of each game, much like it did in its opening round loss to Stanley. Harvey trailed 19-18 in game 1 and lost 25-21. The Hornets trailed 18-16 in game 2 and lost 25-21. In game 3, Harvey led 18-17 and lost 25-19.

The Warbirds had 10 girls finish with at least one kill and got eight kills from senior Nicole Hulm, five kills from junior Nicole Mauch and four kills from junior Danielle Buskohl.

Senior Jennifer Peplinski added three aces for the Warbirds, who play Park River-Fordville-Lankin in the consolation championship match today.

Flasher, which got 12 kills from senior Allison Schick, plays Harvey in today's seventh place match.

Sophomore Carly Ruscheinsky added 11 assists for Flasher and senior Jorie Schmidt had 10 assists.
