Gertrude Kriedemann
Nov. 10, 1908-Nov. 16, 2009Gertrude Emma Kriedemann, age 101, of Minot, N.D., formerly of Beach, N.D., passed away Monday, Nov. 16, 2009, at ManorCare Health Services in Minot.
Visitation will be held from 1 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. today, Nov. 19, at the Chapel of the Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home in Beach. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Nov. 20, 2009, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Beach, with Reverend Scott Hojnacki officiating. Interment will follow in the Beach City Cemetery. Silvernale-Silha Funeral Home of Beach is entrusted with arrangements.
Gertrude was born Nov. 10, 1908, in Hamburg, Germany, the daughter of Otto Carl and Johannah Wilhelmenia (Suren) Mller. At the age of four years, Gertrude and her family immigrated to the United States and moved to Deering, N.D., where Gertrude attended a rural school. She graduated from Granville High School with the class of 1928 and went on to attend colleges in Minot and Dickinson, N.D., and Lincoln, Neb.
On May 30, 1937, Gertrude married William J. Kriedemann in Drake, N.D. Beginning in 1959, she taught school for eight years in Beulah, N.D. while William remained in Beach. In 1967, she returned to Beach and taught at the Seventh-day Adventist Church. She also worked for many years in the Golden Valley County Auditor's office. Gertrude retired in 1989. She belonged to the Hospital Auxiliary, Right To Life, and the Senior Citizens Center. She thoroughly enjoyed reading and crafts. Gertrude loved to read the Bible and was quite active in Bible studies.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William; and her half brother, John Davis.
Gertrude is survived by: her half brother, Walter Davis of Arizona; her half sisters, Nellie Pfau, of Upham, N.D., Agnes Beeter, of Minot, N.D., and Lanney Dwello, of Minneapolis, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
