The command chief master sergeant of the 91st Missile Wing at Minot Air Force Base will give the address at Minot's Veterans Day program Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Municipal Auditorium 2, the former National Guard armory. The program is open to everyone.

Chief Master Sgt. Gregory Fleming has had the command chief master sergeant position with the Minot missile wing since December 2008.

Fleming advises the missile wing commander on all enlisted matters concerning the wing's more than 1,700 enlisted, officer and civilian personnel. He represents the commander on numerous base and local agency councils, committees, boards and at numerous military and civilian functions. Fleming's main focus is taking care of the airmen so they can take care of the mission.

A native of California, he enlisted in the Air Force in 1982. He has served in airlift, fighter, special operations, intelligence-surveillance and reconnaissance, airborne air control and technical training units which include tours in the Pacific, Europe and the U.S. and supporting several military operations.

He is a master maintenance technician and a senior enlisted aircrew member with 1,700 flight hours on several aircraft, including 145 combat-related sorties totaling 476 combat-related flight hours.

Others on the Veterans Day program will include the Minot High School Junior ROTC, Minot veterans organizations and auxiliaries, Minot High School Magic City Campus band directed by Dave Jensen, Louis McLead who is Minot American Legion Post 26 chaplain, Arnie Havelka who is commander of American Legion Post 26 and the Western Plains Youth Ensemble directed by Laurel Livingston.

"Taps" with echo will be played by two MHS Magic City Campus students, Courtney Johnson and Matt Schimke.

Jim Clifford, program chairman for American Legion Post 26, will be master of ceremonies.

The Veterans Day program is held in cooperation with Minot veterans' organizations, their auxiliaries, Minot Municipal Auditorium, Minot AFB, Minot Public Schools and the City of Minot. This year's program is arranged by American Legion Post 26.

Following the Veterans Day program, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary in Minot will hold its annual bake sale Wednesday at noon in the VFW Club. Proceeds of the bake sale go to cancer aid and research.

On Wednesday evening, veterans from local nursing homes have been invited to dinner at the Minot VFW Club.
