LANSFORD Lila M. Helgeson, 95, Lansford, died Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at a Westhope nursing home.

She was born July 31, 1914, on the family farm near Lansford to John and Hattie (Weatherley) Blowers. She was raised on the family farm and also in Lansford. She attended the Lansford School through the eighth grade.

Lila married Melvin Helgeson on April 3, 1929, in Mohall. They worked for various family members on their farms in the Lansford area. They purchased a farm near Maxbass and farmed there for 46 years. They moved to an apartment in Lansford in 1988. Melvin died Dec. 9, 1991. Lila entered the Westhope Home in July 2005.

Lila was a member of the Lansford United Methodist Church, the Lansford Senior Citizens and was the Mount Rose Township Clerk for many years. Lila enjoyed crocheting, doing embroidery and making roses out of crepe paper.

Family: sons, Kenneth (Carol) Helgeson, Sedro Woolley, Wash., Donald (Gladys) Helgeson, Mount Vernon, Wash.; daughter, Eileen Schuppan, Westhope; 12 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Lila was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughters, Gladys Helgeson and Leona Medler; granddaughter, Shirley Huskuston; and nine brothers and sisters.

Funeral: Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at 1 p.m. in the Lansford United Methodist Church.

Burial: Lansford Cemetery.
