Shirley A. Boucher
April 3, 1936-Nov. 3, 2009Shirley Ann Boucher, 73, Minot, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, in a Minot nursing home.
Shirley was born April 3, 1936, in Minot, the daughter of Edward and Evelyn (Pearson) Flammang. She was raised and educated in Minot and attended St. Leo's High School before the family moved to rural Berthold. She graduated from Des Lacs High School in 1954 and furthered her education at Minot Business College for one year.
Shirley was employed at Motor Service Co. in Minot as a secretary for two years, prior to her marriage to John "Jack" Boucher on June 15, 1957, at Berthold. Following their marriage, they lived at Fargo, while he finished college at North Dakota State University. While living in Fargo, she was employed at Merchants Bank and NDSU. They lived in Seattle for a short time, as well as Garrison, Missouri and Montana. Most of their years, they had lived in Minot, where along with raising their seven children, she was a part-time employee of the American Greeting Card Co., distributing cards to local businesses. They had wintered in Florida for several years.
Shirley was a member of St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, where she was active with the Confraternity of Christian Mothers and the Church Circle, Lady of Fatima Rosary Group and did volunteer work at Trinity Nursing Home. She also had volunteered at Bishop Ryan High School for a number of activities and was recognized by the school with their "R" Award for distinguished service in 1992.
She enjoyed crafting, sewing, reading, cooking and baking, along with spending time in her flower garden and traveling.
Her loving family includes: husband of 52 years, John "Jack"; children, Julie (Craig) Lawson, Glasgow, Mont., Jeffrey Boucher, Charlotte, N.C., Jon (Joan) Boucher, Colstrip, Mont., James (Colleen) Boucher, Aurora, Colo., Jordan (Katie) Boucher, Broomfield, Colo., Janelle (Greg) Pochardt, West Fargo, and Jeanine (Jonathan) Rundquist, Aurora, Colo.; grandchildren: Matthew and Jesse Lawson, Conner and Evan Boucher, Ashlee and Tyler Boucher, Ryan and Reagan Boucher, Isabelle and Jordan Boucher Jr., Hannah and Noah Rundquist; sister, Delores (Darrell) Sundsbak, Minot, brother, Wesley (Elaine) Flammang, Puyallup, Wash.; sister by choice, Gladys Weeks, Minot; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents and a nephew, Shane Flammang.
Mass of Christian Burial: Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at 11 a.m. in St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot.
Recitation of the Rosary: Today, Nov. 5, at 7:30 p.m in St. John the Apostle Catholic Church.
Interment: Des Lacs Community Cemetery.
Visitation: Today from noon to 4 p.m. in Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot, and from 5 to 7 p.m. in the church.
Memorials: Are preferred to Minot Catholic Schools Foundation, Second Story, the North Dakota Alzheimer's Association or an organization of the donor's choice.
