LaMoure Thrailkill
May 20, 1939-Oct. 23, 2009LaMoure Thrailkill, 70, Minot, died Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, in a Minot health care facility.
LaMoure was born May 30, 1939, in Underwood, the son of Harry and Blanche (Haugen) Thrailkill. He was reared and educated in Des Lacs and graduated from Des Lacs High School in 1957. After his graduation, he entered the Army and served in Alaska. He was honorably discharged in 1962 and moved back to Des Lacs where he worked for farmers in the area. He later worked for a sand and gravel company in Minot and later for Minot Paint and Glass as a glazer.
LaMoure married Jean Arentz on March 16, 1968, in Minot and they made their home there.
LaMoure started LaMoure's Remodeling and Glass in 1979 and ran the company until he retired in 2006. His wife, Jean, died on Feb. 22, 2002, and he continued to live in Minot.
LaMoure was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church and the Eagles Aerie, both of Minot. He was named Eagle of the Year in 2008. LaMoure loved to play cards, especially pinochle, cribbage and poker. He loved to deer hunt with his friends and he enjoyed the many years he spent at Strawberry Lake.
LaMoure is survived by: his son, Harry (Julie) Thrailkill and their three sons, Jacob, Liam and Matthew, all of Minot; daughters, Amy Towery and her children, Christopher and Casey Lucero, all of Minot, and Vivian Padgett and her husband, Rodger, and their son, Rodger Jr. and his wife, Heather, and their daughter, Gabrielle Olivia, all of Norfolk, Va.; fiancee, Dorothy Johnson, Minot; brothers and sisters, Jeanette Marshall, Minot, Beverly Morris and her husband, Charles, Austin, Ind., Terry Thrailkill and his wife, Barbara, Mesa, Ariz. and Marilyn Iverson and her husband, Syd, Chandler, Ariz. A number of nieces and nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Blanche; wife, Jean; adopted son, Ed "Butch" Thrailkill; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Orville and Dorothy Ness.
Funeral: Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2009, at 2:30 p.m. in Bethany Lutheran Church, Minot.
Burial: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
Visitation: Today, Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, from noon to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
