Orlin and Helen Thompson of Minot celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in August by cruising the Inside Passage to Alaska with family members. They were married Oct. 18, 1949, in Hitterdal, Minn.

They made their home on a farm three miles north of Velva from 1950 to 2005, when they moved to Minot. He is a retired farmer. She worked at Verendrye Electric and the Souris Valley Care Center, both Velva, and for Partners Life Insurance in Minot. They spent 15 winters in Arizona and now spend winters in Reno, Nev., where they have two daughters, Laurel and Orlyn Anne. Another daughter, Rachel, lives in Oregon and their son, Terry, lives in Minnesota. They have six grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; one foster grandson; six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
