Adella Oster
uly 17, 1925-Oct. 21, 2009JAdella Oster, 84, of Drake, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.
Adella Breckel, daughter of Edward and Amelia (Aisenbrey) Breckel, was born July 17, 1925, near Martin, where she grew up and attended country school. She later attended Martin Public School.
As a young woman, Adella did housework and cared for the children of several families in the Martin, Anamoose and Drake areas. She also worked as a waitress at the Anamoose Cafe.
On Sept. 29, 1946, she was married to Leonard Oster in Martin. They made their home and farmed south of Anamoose until 1953, when they moved to a farm south of Drake. In the fall of 1983 they moved into Drake.
In 2003, Adella entered Trinity Homes in Minot due to ill health, and continued to reside there until moving to the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey in 2006, where she had lived since.
She was a member of United Methodist Church in Drake.
Adella is survived by: her husband, Leonard; two daughters, Sharon Oster, of Velva, and Shirley (Dwayne) Blumhagen, of rural Drake; one son, Sheldon (Lisa) Oster, of rural Drake; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Herbert and Wally; and two sisters, Elsie and Malida.
Funeral: Saturday, Oct. 24, at 11 a.m. in United Methodist Church, Drake.
Visitation: Today, Oct. 23, from 2 to 6 p.m., in Bethke-Nelson Funeral Home, Drake.
Committal service: Monday, Oct. 26, 10 a.m. at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery in Mandan.
