Agnes Cushing
Feb. 16, 1927-Oct. 17, 2009Agnes Cushing, 82, Minot, died Saturday, Oct. 17, 2009, in her home.
Agnes Leom was born Feb. 16, 1927, in Follebu, Norway, a daughter of Nekolae and Anna (Amundson) Leom. When she was 18 months old, her family immigrated to the United States and to Bonetraill.
On April 11, 1947, Agnes was united in marriage to Alfred H. Cushing in Sidney, Mont. They made their home and farmed in the Arnegard area until moving to Williston in 1953. In 1963 they moved to Minot, where Agnes worked for Aasen Landscaping and later Magic Mile Market. Alfred died Sept. 11, 2004.
Agnes was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Rebekah Lodge, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows and the Moose Lodge, all Minot.
Those who shared in her life: Son, Gerald "Jerry" (Bev) Cushing, Minot; daughter, Charlotte (Rev. Doug) Grant, Moorhead, Minn.; grandchildren, Theresa Cushing, Rose (Kyle) Johnson, Charles Cushing, Vladimir Mikic, Christopher Grant, Stephanie Grant and Michael Grant; four great-grandchildren, Kieran Harvey, Reagan Harvey, Aiden Grant and Avery Grant; daughter-in-law, Marlene Hovda, and her son, David, Williston; brothers, Kenneth (Allene Thomas) Leom, St. Marie, Mont., Arne (Bev) Leom, Watford City; sisters, Norma Layton of Chester, Mont., Nina Verhasselt of Sidney, Mont., Sylvia (Gary) Jones, Fruit Heights, Utah; sister-in-law, Lois Leom, Plentywood, Mont.; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Alfred; son, Robert "Bobby" Cushing; and sister, Marie Marden.
Visitation: Wednesday, Oct. 21, 2009, from noon until 5 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
Prayer service: Wednesday at 5 p.m. in the Thompson-Larson Funeral Home Chapel, Minot.
Funeral service: Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at 10 a.m. in Zion Lutheran Church, Minot.
Burial: Thursday at 3 p.m. in Hillside Memory Gardens, Williston.
