Freshmen Schall, Denne take home DAC awards
DICKINSON - Minot State University freshman cross country runner Breye-tte Schall earned Dakota Athletic Conference Wom-en's Runner of the Week honors in cross country, while redshirt freshman John Denne was named DAC Defensive Player of the Week the conference announced Monday.
Schall, from Minot, ran a personal best time of 19 minutes, 38 seconds to finish fifth at the Minot State Invitational. Jed Morgan of Black Hills State earned the men's honor.
Denne, from St. Cloud, Minn., finished with a pair of interceptions and five tackles in the Beavers 28-9 win over Black Hills State. He was joined by Jamestown College's Mike Beehler (Offensive Player of the Week) and Dickinson State's Derion Williams (Special Teams Player of the Week) on the weekly list.
In volleyball, Jamestown College's Kayla Fee won yet another weekly setter award as she finished with 72 assists and 17 digs in helping the Jimmies to a 2-0 record. Fee is a senior from Williston. Valley City State had both of the other two weekly awards as Heidi Larson won Hitter of the Week and Amanda Smith earned Libero of the Week honors.
