Pauline Cartwright
Oct. 31, 1908-Oct. 16, 2009Pauline Cartwright, 100, Anamoose, died Friday, Oct. 16, 2009, at the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey.
Pauline was born on Oct. 31, 1908, near Clifton, N.D. She was the daughter of Peter and Mary (Muthman) Seefeld. She grew up and attended school near Clifton through the eighth grade. Pauline then attended a school for sewing and became a seamstress. Being a seamstress helped later in providing for their large family. Pauline married Nick Cartwright Jr. on Nov. 23, 1927, in Selz. They lived on a farm near Berwick and later lived near Nick Cartwright Sr. in the mystery mansion by Clifton. In 1928 they built a farmstead on the north side of the Cartwright Lake three miles north of Martin. In 1930 the home burned down and they moved across the lake to the south side and lived there until 1974. Pauline sold Avon for many years while living on the farm and after they moved into Anamoose upon retiring from farming in 1974. Pauline lived in Anamoose until she moved to the St. Aloisius Nursing Home in Harvey in 2000. Nick died on Jan. 9, 2001. She was a resident of the nursing home until she passed away.
Pauline is survived by: three daughters and three sons-in-law, Mary Lou and Harvey Albert of Minot, Angeline and Emanuel Kesler of Anamoose, Arla Mae and Wayne Vannett of Anamoose; son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Sandy Cartwright of Anamoose; 24 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; 28 great-great-grandchildren.
Pauline was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Nick; son, Gordon "Tommy" Cartwright; daughter, Patricia Degenstein/Arron; great-grandchild, Elizabeth Kesler; four sisters and five brothers.
Funeral services will be: Monday, Oct. 19 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Anamoose.
Burial: will be in the church cemetery.
A prayer service will be: Today (Sunday, Oct. 18) at 7 p.m. in the church.
Visitation will be: Today (Sunday, Oct. 18) from 2 to 5 p.m. at Hertz Funeral Home, Harvey.
