LEMMON, S.D. Arthur E. Nyberg, 90, Lemmon, formerly of the Velva area, died Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, in a Hettinger hospital.

He was born Feb. 13, 1919, to John and Emma Nyberg near Velva. He enlisted in the North Dakota National Guard on March 13, 1941. He served in five campaigns during World War II including Normandy, northern France, the Rhineland, the Ardennes and central Europe, until his discharge from the Army. He married Eva Barnes on Feb. 27, 1943, in Spanaway Park, Wash.

Survivors: wife; sons, Arthur, Minot, John, Jamestown, Randy, Bemidji, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; brother, John, Doylestown, Pa.

Funeral: Friday, 11 a.m., in Evanson-Jensen Funeral Home, Lemmon.

Burial: Union Cemetery, north of Lemmon.

Family service: Today, 7:30 p.m., in the funeral home.

Visitation: Today, 1 to 7 p.m., in the funeral home.
