Kay Footitt
Sept. 24, 1961-Aug. 3, 2009Funeral services for Kay Footitt, age 47, of Bottineau, will be held on Monday, Aug. 10, at 10 a.m. in the Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Bottineau. Burial will be in the Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery of rural Carbury. Visitation will be held on Sunday, Aug. 9, from 1 p.m. until 9 p.m. in the Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
Kay Footitt, a daughter of Glenn and Margaret (Getzlaff) Kornkven, was born on Sept. 24, 1961, at Bottineau. She was reared and educated in the Bottineau area. After the completion of her education she began working at the Bottineau Good Samaritan Center.
On April 11, 1981, she was married to Bruce Jangula at Bottineau. This marriage later ended. In 1990 Kay moved to Bismarck and began working for the Bismarck Baptist Nursing Home until 1993. She returned to Bottineau and continued to work at the Bottineau Good Samaritan Center until 2006.
On Aug. 19, 1995, she was married to Lance Footitt at Bottineau. Kay was very involved in the Family Crisis Center and had the distinction of having been the longest-serving volunteer for the center.
Kay was baptized at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Willow City and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Bottineau on June 6, 1976, and remained a member of the church. Kay was known as "Mama Kay" and will be fondly remembered by her friends and family as a kind, big-hearted, generous and hard-working woman. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who was also present at every one of her grandchildren's births.
Kay passed away on Monday, Aug. 3, 2009, at a Bottineau hospital.
She is survived by: her husband, Lance of Bottineau; sons, Eric and Mandi Kornkven of Bottineau, Cory Jangula (Tera Halley) of Bismarck and Nathaniel Jangula of Bottineau; grandchildren, Tre' Robert Mascarena, Collin David Koushkouski, Shaela Brooke Mikkelson and Aiden Francis Kornkven; mother, Margaret Kornkven of Bottineau; brothers, Ross Kornkven of Bottineau, Chris (Amy) Kornkven of Helenville, Wis., Karl (JoAnne) Kornkven of Ripon, Wis. and Ron (Krista) Kornkven of Thompson; sisters, Janet (Michael) Tuller of Hightsville, Calif., Lu Ann (Jeff) Nelson of Williston and Colleen (Chuck Swiss) Kornkven of Bottineau; mother-in-law, Mary Footitt of Carrington; sister-in-laws, Teresa (Jeff) Phillips of Henderson, Minn., Janet (Melvin) Biel and Dawn (Larry) Weninger, both of Carrington; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Glenn Kornkven; her father-in-law, James Footitt; and her grandparents.
Arrangements are with Nero Funeral Home in Bottineau.
