Alan Horsager
Sept. 8, 1949-July 11, 2009Alan Blaine Horsager, 59, a loving husband, father, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend, lost his battle with colon cancer on July 11, 2009. He passed away at Medcenter One Hospital in Bismarck, ND.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 22, at 11:00 a.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Bismarck with Rev. Dick Owens officiating. Burial will be at Mount Hope Cemetery.
Visitation will be Tuesday, July 21, from 5:00 9:00 p.m. at Eastgate Funeral Service in Bismarck, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the church.
Alan was born on September 8, 1949, to Blaine and Audrey (Ellingson) Horsager in Edgeley, ND. Alan's early years were in the Berlin, ND, area, and he received baptism and confirmation at Berlin Methodist Church. He graduated from Edgeley Public School in 1967.
Alan married Norrine Ann Isaacson on November 2, 1968. They moved to Fargo, ND, after their marriage and together they had two wonderful children, Beth Ann and Clay Alan. Alan attended NDSU and graduated in 1975. After graduation, the family moved to Bismarck, ND, and he lived there until his death.
Alan worked for 27 years for J & J/Ortho Pharmaceuticals as a pharmaceutical representative, receiving numerous awards from the company for outstanding sales. He retired from the company in May 2006.
He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where he and Norrine were active in children's religious education. He was a devoted family man and loved spending time with his grandchildren, family, friends, and his dog Knight. He was an avid hunter and angler and spent many hours hunting and fishing with his son, father, brothers, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, and friends.
Alan is survived by: his daughter and son-in-law, Beth Ann (Lieutenant Colonel Robert) Bortree and their children, Emma Ann and James Robert "J.R." of Boxborough, MA; his son and daughter-in-law, Clay Alan (Lori) Horsager and their daughter, Ruby Anna of Fargo, ND; his parents, Blaine and Audrey Horsager of Edgeley, ND; his brothers, Denis (Angie) of Valley City, ND, Gary (Sandy) of Edgeley, ND, and Kevin (Sharon) of Reiles Acres Fargo, ND; his sisters, Beverly Petska of Camp Verde, AZ, and Karen (Rusty) Savageau of Tempe, AZ; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Robert and Muriel Lamp of Fargo, Arden and Sharon Fuher of Edgeley, ND, and Spencer and Joann Isaacson of Edgeley, ND; his nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Knight.
He was preceded in death on December 26, 2000, by his wife, Norrine Ann Horsager.
