Sadeth Bakken, 101, Minot, died Monday, June 29, 2009, at the Brentmoor Assisted Living Community in Minot.

Sadeth Hanenberg was born March 30. 1908, on the family farm home near Drake, the daughter of John Hanenberg and Minnie (VerHeyen) Hanenberg. She attended the local school and later attended college in Minot. She taught school in Guthrie.

She and Casper Bakken were married in 1928 at Anamoose. They made their home in Drake until 1943 when they moved to Jamestown. In 1944 they moved to Minot. She worked at the Farmers Union Creamery, Coast to Coast, S & L and Stevensons Ready To Wear until she retired. Following the death of her husband in 1981, she continued to reside in Minot.

She was a member of the Little Flower Catholic Church and Confraternity, also the Moose Auxiliary and a life member of the Eagles Club.

She is survived by: her daughter, Jeanette Schlenker; two grandchildren, Jon (Peg) Schlenker, Jan (Gary) Haut, all of Jamestown; three great-grandchildren, Jennifer (Gary) Schmidt, Mankato, Minn., Jill Schlenker, Jamestown, and Michael Opp, Fargo; and one great-great-granddaughter, Corinne Schmidt.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one son-in-law; three brothers; and six sisters.

Funeral service: Thursday, July 2, 2009, at 1 p.m. at St. Therese the Little Flower Catholic Church in Minot with the Rev. Frederick Harvey officiating.

Interment: Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.

Visitation: Today (Wednesday, July 1, 2009) from 2 to 6 p.m. at the Thomas Family Funeral Home, Minot.
