Craig Bruce Rooks, 49, Williston, ND, passed peacefully of natural causes on Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at his home.

His memorial service will be held Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 1:30 p.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church in Williston. Pastors David and Lorna Halaas are officiating.

Craig was born March 29, 1960, in Williston, to Gerald and Marilyn (Miller) Rooks. After graduating from Williston High School he joined the U.S. Army as a military police officer, where he served nine years in Germany, Somalian conflict, and numerous forts in the United States.

On June 19, 1989 he married Tresa Reeves in Knoxville, TN.

After 20 years of military service he retired and joined the Williston Sherriff's Department where he was the assistant administrator of the corrections center.

He enjoyed hunting, paintballing and golf. He loved his family and cherished his grandchildren.

Surviving Craig is his wife Tresa Rooks, Williston; his daughter Nikki Rooks (from a previous marriage to Elke Haake) of Berlin, Germany, his daughter Dianna (Phil III) LaBar, and grandchildren, Mariane "Jellibean", Brooklyn "Peanut", and Hunter "Little Man", Williston; stepgrandchildren, Phil IV and Travis LaBar, Henderson, NV; his son Garet and his family Leanne and Lucinda "Luci Lu", Williston; his parents Gerald and Marilyn Rooks; and his sister Kimberlee (Mike) Wallingford, Salmon, Idaho.

He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A memorial registry for Craig will be available at Fulkerson Funeral Home in Williston on Monday, June 22, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Tuesday, June 23, 2009 from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
