Producers are eligible for flooding help

May 17, 2009
Minot Daily News

Livestock producers who experienced damage to their operating facilities by springtime floods are encouraged to consider the Livestock Pollution Prevention Program, or LP3, before starting or contracting repair work. LP3 provides technical and cost-share assistance for producers who develop manure management systems that comply with federal and state environmental regulations.

Financial assistance of up to 60 percent is available for the creation of lagoons, run-off ponds, clean water diversions, heavy-use cement cattle aprons and manure pumps among others. Those interested should contact Jason Wirtz, LP3 coordinator for the North Dakota Department of Agriculture, at 328-2216.
