Dolores Becker
August 31, 1927-April 28, 2009MOHALL Dolores Leola Becker, 81, Minot, and formerly of Upham and Mohall, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009, at her home.
She was born Aug. 31, 1927, near Upham, the fifth child of Ole and Bertha (Laabs) Mickelson. Dolores attended the Deep River No. 1 country school near their family farm, and three years of high school in Upham.
On April 1, 1946, Dolores married Gordon Becker in Bottineau. They lived and raised their family in the Upham area until 1966 when they moved to Seattle. Dolores worked in retail sales at Market Time and Woolworths.
They returned to North Dakota in 1970, settling in Mohall. Dolores was employed at Hill's Department Store, the Mohall American Legion Club and also with daughter, Carolyn, at Cheers to Yah.
Dolores and Gordon moved to Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1991, and worked for three years as the night manager at the Green Acres Funeral Home. They retired to Mesa, Ariz., before returning to Minot. They lived with their daughter, Rita, for two years. Dolores was a resident at Dakota Terrace Apartments, living among many great friends. Our family is grateful for the loving kindness shown to our mother during her illness.
Family: daughters, Carolyn Solberg, Rugby, Julie (Rodney) Cargo, Warroad, Minn., Roxanne Albert, Landa; sons, Russell (Diann) Becker, Mohall, Kirby (Joanne) Becker, Minot; son-in-law, Neil Kitzman, Granville; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; 13 stepgrandchildren; sister, Ione (Lyle) Glinz, Westhope; former sons-in-law, Wayne Bethke, Mark Solberg and Steve Albert; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Dolores was preceded in death by her husband, Gordon (2007); daughter, Rita (2006); son, Bradley (1981); her mother and dad; brothers, Irvin, Lloyd and Dalton Mickelson; and sister, Lorraine Mogard.
Funeral: Friday, May 1, 2009, at 11 a.m. at United Methodist Church, Mohall.
Burial: Mohall Community Cemetery.
Family service: Today at 7 p.m. at Brose Funeral Home, Mohall.
Visitation: Today from 2 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
