Kathryn Brossart

Kathryn M. Brossart, 93, Minot, formerly of Voltaire, died Friday, April 17, 2009, in a Minot nursing home.

Kath-ryn Fiest was born March 3, 1916, in Wilhe-lmina, Alberta, Canada, to Frank and Rose (Fischer) Fiest. She was raised and educated in the Towner area.

On Oct. 17, 1938, Kathryn married Benedict "Bennie" Brossart in Towner. They farmed in Pierce County until 1948, when they moved to Voltaire. They farmed in the Voltaire area until 1997, when they retired and moved to Minot. Bennie died on March 29, 2002.

Kathryn was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Balfour, and St. Cecilia Catholic Church, Velva, and St. Leo's Catholic Church, Minot. She was also a member of the Confraternity of Christian Mothers.

Kathryn loved her family and friends and enjoyed crocheting, cooking, canning, gardening and she loved to play cards.

Those who shared in her life: sons, Bennie J. (Marlys) Brossart, Minot, Robert (Mabel) Brossart, Westhope, and Ronald (Jami) Brossart, Bergen; daughters, Elizabeth (Ron) Leier, Karlsruhe, and Rose Brossart, Mayville; daughter-in-law, Vickie Brossart, Grafton; 24 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sister, Elizabeth Heinrich, Minot; brother, John (Tillie) Fiest, Minot; sisters-in-law, Lucille Fiest, Minot, and Maggie Fiest, Minot; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie; son, Donald; daughter-in-law, Shirley; great-granddaughter, Emily Kuhn; parents, Frank and Rose Fiest, and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral: Thursday, April 23, 2009, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Apostle Catholic Church, Minot.

Visitation and vigil prayer service: Visitation today, April 22, from noon to 7 p.m., with the vigil prayer service at 7 p.m., both at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.

Burial: Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery, Velva, at a later date.
