Robert Argabright
Aug. 4, 1921-April 18, 2009Robert Marvin Argabright, 87, Bismarck, died April 18, 2009, at the Jacobson Memorial Care Center in Elgin, ND. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, at Parkway Funeral Service Chapel, 2330 Tyler Parkway, Bismarck. Interment will be in the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, with military honors provided by VFW Post No. 1326.
Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. today, April 21, at Parkway Funeral Service and will continue Wednesday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Robert "Bob" was born August 4, 1921, in Rugby, ND, to William and Myrtle Argabright. He was raised in the Rugby and Barton areas and graduated from Barton High School.
Bob enlisted in the United States Army on October 14, 1942, and served during WW II in the European Theatre of Operations with service in Normandy, Northern France, Ardiennes, Rhineland, and other Central Europe locations. Robert received the "Good Conduct" medal in 1944 and was honorably discharged on November 14, 1945, with the rank of Tech 5.
He married Mildred Degner on Sept 21, 1947, at Willow City and purchased a farm north of Perth, North Dakota, where Bob farmed until retiring in 1980. Robert also was a rural letter carrier in Perth as well as Bisbee until he retired in 1980. After retiring from the mail route, he and his wife owned and operated "Millie & Bob's Corner Off Sale" in Rolla for several years.
Bob was a member of the American Legion posts in Willow City and Rolla. He was also a member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association. Bob enjoyed talking farming and antique machinery. He also spent many hours playing cribbage and pinochle, as well as fishing.
Robert is survived by: two daughters, Peggy Imhoff of Elgin, and Susan Solseth of Bismarck; three sons, Brian Argabright of Minot, Barry (Colleen) Argabright of Fargo, and Craig (Marcia) Argabright of Williston. Bob is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Peni Rosten, Kristi Imhoff, GT Solseth, Mandi Iverson, Justin Argabright, Alisha Argabright, Arysta Argabright, Keith Argabright, Bret Argabright, Chelsi Argabright, Russ Larson, Becky Byrns, Patti Omlid, Amy Omlid and Joe Omlid. Bob is also survived by six great-grandchildren, Ashlynne Solseth, Emily Oneil, Eric Oneil, Erin Oneil, Austin Iverson and Gracie King.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Millie; son-in-law, Gordy; and an infant grandson.
