Minot Daily News

Helen (Austad) Barber, Minot, will celebrate her 100th birthday Sunday, March 29, with a gathering of relatives and friends in the early afternoon in Trinity Homes, Minot. Her family will host the event. Cards may also be sent to her in care of Trinity Homes, Room 260-2, 305-8th Ave. NE, Minot, ND 58703.

She was born March 29, 1909, in Minot to Albert and Anna Austad of Roseglen. She married Paul Barber June 7, 1930, in Minot. He died in May 1976. They raised two children, Donna Haugen, Minot, formerly Ryder, and Donn Barber, Minneapolis. She has four grandchildren.

Helen has lived in Minot all her life and worked for many years for Dr. Olson at McCannel Clinic. She lived in her home until she was 94 when she moved into Edgewood Vista and later to Trinity Homes. She grew up with four siblings, but she is the last surviving member of the Austad family, except for brother-in-law, Lyman Lee of Donna, Texas, who is 101 years old.
