Wohl takes 400 for Magi
BISMARCK - Alex Wohl had a big day for Minot High School in the WDA Indoor Track and Field Meet. The Magicians' senior won the 400-meter dash and helped Minot to a win in the 640 relay Monday at Leach Fieldhouse on the University of Mary campus.
"It was a good day," MHS head coach Barry Holmen said. "We're certainly short of some of our varsity kids, but we had a nice complement of younger ones and we did well. I like the way our team competed and I liked the aspect of teammates showing interest in other teammates. I think that goes a long way."
Wohl won the 400 with a time of 55.35 seconds. He teamed with Wyatt Grindy, Cameron Dostert and Ethan Rostvedt to take the 640 relay.
Holmen said the team's weight work has paid off.
"If anything their speed has gotten better from lifting weights," he said. "We haven't been able to do any interval work or speed work."
Rostvedt also had a fine day for the Magi. Aside from running on the winning relay team, he placed second in the triple jump.
Minot's Alex Nelson placed second in the high jump with a leap of 6-feet.
