A car carrying two passengers was rear-ended by an Amtrak train carrying 134 passengers and 10 crew members at approximately 1:30 a.m. Saturday after becoming high-centered on the train tracks.
According to a report by the North Dakota Highway Patrol, the car, driven by 21-year-old Tabitha Carlson, entered a private service road on the north side of the train trestle on Ward County Highway 12 west of Minot, and after making a right turn, became high-centered on the train tracks.
The Amtrak train was able to slow down to 35 miles per hour before impact and no injuries were reported.
Carlson, of Douglas, was charged with driving under the influence, driving under suspension and criminal trespass. Her passenger, 24-year-old Brennan Carlson of Minot, was charged with drug paraphernalia and criminal trespass.
