MINOT AIR FORCE BASE A barnstormer who will perform at Minot Air Force Base's Northern Neighbors Day open house this summer has donated an orientation flight in a 1943 Stearman PT-17 to the Prairie Warrior Association Association Auction.

The plane is the same aircraft that John Mohr, of Mohr Barnstorming, flies on the air show circuit and will be performing in at Northern Neighbors Day July 18, said Pat Travnicek, deputy director of Northern Neighbors Day.

Mohr's donation of an orientation flight in his Stearman plane was added this week to the list of donations for the auction. The auction, sponsored by the Minot Area Chamber of Commerce, raises money to support Minot AFB teams, squadron activities and other events and needs at the base.

Money raised this year will also support the Northern Neighbors Day open house.

The auction is March 21 in the Holiday Inn-Riverside in Minot, beginning with a preview of merchandise at 5:30 p.m. and followed by the auction at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $20 per person.

The winning bidder's orientation flight in the 1943 Stearman will originate and land at the Minot International Airport. The flight will be made during the weekend of Northern Neighbors Day.

Mohr, of Vadnais Heights, Minn., has been performing in air shows for more than 25 years.
