Cmdr. Gregory Buxa, a 1985 graduate of Des Lacs-Burlington High School, also is a military academy graduate. He graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in 1989.
A Feb. 8 story about Lt. Cmdr. Brian Goldschmidt, a U.S. Naval Academy graduate, said he was believed to be the only student from Des Lacs-Burlington High School to receive a full scholarship to a military academy.
The U.S. Coast Guard Academy is the only military academy that doesn't require congressional nomination, according to Buxa.
Buxa is executive officer at Coast Guard Air Station Sacramento in California.
