BISMARCK (AP) - The National Guard Association of the United States has awarded its Charles Dick Medal of Merit to Gov. John Hoeven.
Hoeven received the award on Friday in Bismarck.
The award honors Dick, a former senator who helped establish the modern National Guard a century ago. It goes to a public official who has demonstrated exceptional service on behalf of the Guard.
Sean Johnson, chairman of The National Guard Association of North Dakota, said Hoeven was one of 39 elected officials to receive the award this year.
