Dru Wishart
May 2, 1910-Dec. 13, 2008Drucilla "Dru" Wishart, age 98, of New Rockford, ND, died Saturday, Dec. 13, 2008, at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd in New Rockford.
Drucilla Ursula McCurdy Wishart was born May 2, 1910, at Center Napan, New Brunswick, Canada, one of 13 children born to John and Drusilla (O'Hearn) Gillis. At the age of 19, she traveled to Boston, MA, where she became a cook. On Oct. 31, 1934, Dru was united in marriage to Harris Wishart in New York City, NY. In 1937, they moved to the Campbell's Ranch near Warwick, ND, where they lived for 28 years. During this time, Dru worked along side Harris, helping on the ranch and as a cook for Campbell Road Construction Company. While at the ranch, Harris and Dru also raised his niece and nephew, Bonnie (Polivka) and Harry Bowman as their children in addition to their son John.
The Wisharts moved into New Rockford where Dru held various positions, including as a cook at the Phillips 66 Restaurant, working at Sioux Manufacturing at Fort Totten, as housekeeper, laundry and cook at Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, and was a manager at The Ranch House Motel, Devils Lake, ND.
Dru and Harris entered LHGS in April of 2000. Harris died Feb. 17, 2001.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Donna Wishart of New Rockford; 7 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; 8 great-great-grandchildren.
Dru was preceded in death by her husband Harris; son John; and her 12 brothers and sisters.
The family suggests memorials to Lutheran Home of the Good Shepherd, New Rockford, and Presentation Hospice, Carrington.
Service: Thursday, Dec. 18, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, New Rockford.
Interment: St. John's Cemetery, New Rockford.
Visitation: Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., with a prayer service held at 7 p.m., all in Evans Funeral Home, Carrington.
