Mark A. Duchsherer, 45, of Drake, passed away Thursday, Oct. 16, 2008, at his home in Drake.
Mark Allen Duchsherer, son of Mike and Karene (Kemper) Duchsherer, was born Nov. 1, 1962, in Harvey. He was raised and educated in Drake, graduating from Drake High School in 1981 as valedictorian of his class. Mark was a very creative and talented individual. He received many outstanding awards in FFA and crop judging competitions during his high school years.
As a child and young adult he worked alongside his dad, mom and siblings on the family farm. After graduating he continued to farm and raise cattle. He also worked as a relief operator for the Soo Line Railroad, was a substitute rural mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and did custom coal hauling during the winter months. He then acquired his own land and continued to farm.
Mark's family includes: his mother, Karene of Drake; his sisters, Kimberly (Dwight) Hegel of Bismarck, and Kathy Duchsherer of Minot; his brother, Michael Duchsherer of Drake; his nephews, Chad (Jessica) Hegel of Bismarck, and Chane Hegel of Grand Forks; his niece, Vedrana Hedzic of Bismarck; his great-niece, Kylee Hegel of Bismarck; his uncles, aunts and cousins; and his beloved pets.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Mike Duchsherer; and his grandparents, Clayton and Ida (Keszler) Kemper of Drake, and Andrew and Rose (Brossart) Tuchsherer of Drake.
Funeral service: Monday, Oct. 20, 2008, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Drake.
Burial: Balfour Cemetery at Balfour.
Visitation: Today (Sunday), from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Bethke-Nelson Funeral Home in Drake.
