Children’s foundation to grant Minot girl’s wish

October 9, 2008
Minot Daily News

A children's foundation is making the wish of one lucky Minot girl come true.

A special rodeo wish will be granted at the Y's Men's Rodeo by the Children's Western Wish Foundation. Alexandria McCallum, an 8-year-old student at Perkett Elementary who has autism, has been chosen by the foundation and will be attending the rodeo Friday at 6:30 p.m. with her mother, Danielle, father, Joe, brother, Kaylem, and sister, Autumn. The family's tickets will be compliments of the Y's Men's Rodeo.

National sponsors have given Alexandria new shirts, boots and jeans, and a western hat donated by RCC Western Store will be autographed with multi-colored markers by members of the foundation and rodeo.

"She will come feeling like she's a cowgirl," said Glee Nett, foundation founder and national wish coordinator.

Besides enjoying the rodeo, Alexandria will also get to see how the horses are taken care of and meet several cowgirls, the contestants and other rodeo personnel. Nett said the clowns in particular are looking forward to sharing their face-painting secrets with Alexandria.

Nett said Alexandria will also be given a CD full of pictures taken of the evening.
