Car accident causes injuries, death

Two people were injured and a third was killed in a traffic accident 18 miles east of Watford City Tuesday morning.

According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 24-year-old from Williston was driving a Jeep Cherokee south on N.D. Highway 23 when the vehicle crossed the centerline and sideswiped a northbound Ford pickup truck around 7:30 a.m. Both vehicles were a total loss.

The driver of the Ford, Bennie Ray Hood, 42, of Sidney, Mont., and a passenger, Christopher Tracy, 23, of Arnegard, were injured in the accident while the driver of the Jeep was killed.

Both the driver of the Jeep and Hood were wearing seat belts while Tracy was not. The name of the Jeep's driver has not been released.
