Cheryl Throlson
Jan. 9, 1948-Sept. 2, 2008Cheryl Throlson, age 60, of Sheyenne, ND, died Tuesday, September 2, 2008, at Innovis Health in Fargo, ND, after a brief but courageous battle with cancer.
Cheryl Elaine Portz was born January 9, 1948, in New Rockford, ND, the daughter of Carl Art and Millie (Ystaas) Portz. She attended school in Sheyenne, graduating from high school in 1966. Cheryl then attended college at North Dakota State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Foods and Nutrition in 1970.
Cheryl and her husband, Ron Throlson, were united in marriage on June 7, 1969, at the United Methodist Church in New Rockford, ND. After they graduated from college, Cheryl and Ron returned to Sheyenne where they farmed southeast of town for many years and raised two children, Scott and Amy.
Cheryl had a profound love of children and she enjoyed her work as a para-professional at Four Winds Elementary School, Fort Totten, ND.
Cheryl's passion in life was her family. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren who brought her so much joy. She was also an avid sports fan, especially of MN Twins and Vikings.
Cheryl is survived by: her husband, Ron; one son, Scott (Robyn) Throlson, Jamestown, ND; one daughter, Amy (Neil) Powers, Ellsworth, NE; five grandchildren, Meagan Powers, Jaden Powers, Hunter Powers, Emily Throlson, Allison Throlson; and her mother, Millie Portz, Sheyenne, ND.
Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, Carl Art Portz.
Visitation: Today, Friday, September 5, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with a Prayer Service on Friday at 7 p.m. all in Evans Funeral Home, New Rockford, ND.
Funeral: First Lutheran Church, Sheyenne, ND, Saturday, September 6, 2008, at 11 a.m.
Interment: Riverside Cemetery, Sheyenne, ND.
