Laura Weltikol
Dec. 25, 1915-July 28, 2008Laura Weltikol, 92, Minot, formerly of Berthold, passed away Monday, July 28, 2008, at Trinity Hospital, Minot.
Laura Bjelland was born Dec. 25, 1915, south of Tagus, a daughter of Lars and Martha (Oyness) Bjelland. She was educated at the Tagus Public School.
Laura married Gladwin M. Weltikol Aug. 9, 1941, in Sidney, Mont. They lived and farmed in the Tagus area for several years, where they raised cattle and small grains. They moved to Minot in December 2001. Gladwin passed away May 10, 2003. Following her husband's death, she continued to reside in Minot.
She attended St. Olaf Lutheran Church in Tagus until it closed in 2001 and then became a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Berthold. She was also a member of the Zion Lutheran Church Ladies Circle and the Berthold Senior Citizens, as well as the Moose Lodge, Sons of Norway and the Minot Quilt Guild, all of Minot.
Her special interests were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, crocheting, quilting, and reading.
Surviving family includes: daughters, Sharon (Harlan) Ulberg, Berthold, and Yvonne (Gary) Gravseth, Burlington; six grandchildren, Darwyn Ulberg (special friend, Connie Wentz), Kerry (Char) Ulberg, Hughie (Julie) Ulberg, Jane (Curt) Ross, Todd Gravseth, Scott Gravseth; eight great-grandchildren, Amber, Mallory and Austin Ulberg, Brayden, Cody and Laura Ross, Hallie and Jake Ulberg; sisters, Olive Olson, Glenburn, Nettie Lee, of Stanley, Ruth Aas, Salem, Ore., and Mary Larson, Springfield, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Laura was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Gladwin; sister, Marget Lee; and brothers, Berent and Louis Bjelland.
Funeral: Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, Berthold.
Interment: Tagus Cemetery, Tagus.
Visitation: Friday, Aug. 1, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Thompson-Larson Funeral Home, Minot.
