Penny Voeller

Penny Jo (Owens) Voeller, the daughter of Fred and Pearl (Henricks) Owens, was born September 9, 1952, in Cando, North Dakota. She died at the age of 55 years on Thursday, July 17, 2008, at the Heart of America Medical Center in Rugby, North Dakota.

Penny grew up in the homes of her parents in Wolford, Knox and Rugby where she attended school, graduating from Rugby High School in 1970. On May 26, 1972, she was united in marriage to Jerome Voeller at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker, Penny also worked outside the home over the years at Andrew's Steakhouse, the Haaland Home and the Geographical Center Museum. She loved to read, travel, garden and bird watching, especially Fred and Barney, her Bluejays. She spent numerous hours with her grandchildren, riding bike, bowling and camping. Penny was an avid walker, and walked many miles with her friend, Carol Jobe. Gin Rummy was her card game, and she would play with anyone willing to play with her.

Survivors include: her husband, Jerome; her son, Rod of Fargo; two daughters, Tracey (Paul) Cronin of Windsor, California, and Sheryl (Nick) Brossart of Rugby; grandchildren, Haley, Madison & Jackson Cronin and Joey, Jerry and Tambrey Brossart; her mother, of Rugby; brothers, Terry (Cathy) and Larry (Patty), all of Breckenridge, MN, and Rick (Sandy) of Jamestown; sisters, Vicki Slaubaugh of New Paris, IN, Diane Pateneaude of Timber Lake, SD, Bobbi (Chuck) Welk of Dickinson and Jackie (Brent) Cassavant of Red Lake Falls, MN; her mother-in-law, Eleanor Voeller of Rugby; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father; father-in-law, Walter Voeller; a brother-in-law, Don Slaubaugh; and Fluffy the Cat.

Memorials: In Lieu of Flowers, memorials are preferred to the Heart of America Library in Rugby.

Mass of Christian Burial: Will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 21, at the Little Flower Catholic Church in Rugby with burial in the Church Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. today, July 20, and from 9 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Anderson Funeral Home in Rugby. There will be no reviewal in the Church on Monday.

Rosary & vigil prayer service: Will begin at 7 p.m. today in the funeral home.
