Kathy Murphy, Murphy Brothers Expositions, cuts a ribbon on the midway of the State Fairgrounds Thursday afternoon in honor of 40 consecutive years of providing carnival rides for the State Fair. Watching are fair manager Bob Wagoner and members of the Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors. From the left are Todd Johnson, Carol Schmidt, Marilyn Haider, Peggy Beuchler, Wagoner, Murphy, Pat Gagnon and Russ Gagnon. According to Wagoner, the 39 rides assembled for this year's fair is believed to be the most in the fair's long history. In honor of the 40-year association between the fair and Murphy Brothers, rides at the fair will be free of charge from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday.
