Mildred Pfeilschiefter, 94, Minot, formerly of Velva, died Monday, July 7, 2008, in a Minot hospital.

Mildred Brabandt was born Jan. 20, 1914, on the family farm near Granville, the daughter of Henry and Ingeborg (Berg) Brabandt. She was raised in that area and graduated from Granville High School. She attended Minot Business College and later attended Business College in Billings, Mont. Mildred was employed at a hotel in Yellowstone, Mont., for a time.

In September of 1938, Mildred married Ralance Pfeilschiefter in a triple wedding ceremony in Minot. Following their marriage they made their home at the housing project at the Truax-Traer Coal Mine near Velva, where Ralance was employed. In 1950 they purchased their own farm in Velva, where they raised their four children. They lived in Velva until the late '90s when they moved to Minot.

Mildred was a member of Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva. She was a member of the ladies aid, where she enjoyed quilting and she also enjoyed baking. She truly loved her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She was a member of the Velva Senior Citizens.

Those who shared in her life: Husband of nearly 70 years, Ralance; children, Rodney (Carol) Pfeilschiefter, Florissant, Colo., Donna (Sonny Honrud) Pretzer, Minot, Kenny (Melinda) Pfeilschiefter, Bullhead City, Ariz., and Linda (Dennis) Abel, Minot; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Lovella Kinnard and Orvetta Blana, both of Seattle; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mildred was preceded in death by a grandson, Dallas Don Pfeilschiefter; her parents, Henry and Ingeborg Brabandt; sisters, Berget, Ida and Irene; and brothers, Alvin, Henry and Harold.

Funeral: Thursday, July 10, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Oak Valley Lutheran Church, Velva.

Visitation: Thursday, one hour prior to the service, in the church.

Burial: Thursday at 2 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Minot.
