Eileen Brekke Bentley

Eileen Joyce (Brekke) Bentley, 68, Guerneville, CA, formerly of Velva, ND, died Jan. 8, 2008, of cancer at a Santa Rosa, CA, hospital.

Eileen was born Feb. 22, 1939, in Minot, ND. She was the daughter of Clarice (Pfeilschiefter) and Daniel Brekke. Eileen was a 1957 graduate of Velva High School and attended Minot Business College. She worked at Luedke Insurance Agency in Minot about 3 years and then moved to San Francisco. She married Jim Bentley on Nov. 8, 1962, in Velva. Eileen worked at numerous jobs as an insurance broker, realtor and Notary Public secretary. She moved from San Francisco to Guerneville in 1972. At the time of her death, she worked as a secretary for Russian River Parks and Recreation, a job she really liked.

Eileen enjoyed music, guitars, piano, reading, crossword puzzles, work and her family.

Survivors include: sisters, Donna Claire Caulkins (Lyle), Lincoln, NE, Darlene Schultz (Kenny), Pepin, Wis., and Marlys Brossart (Bennie), Minot; brothers, Donald Brekke (Gerry), Grand Forks, ND, and Daniel Brekke (Donna), Minot; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Brekke, Velva, Donna Brekke, Helena, MT; brother-in-law, Donald Brewer (Carolee), Staunton, IL; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; twin sister, Elaine; and brothers, John, Dale and Chris Brekke.

Graveside services: Will be held at Simcoe North Prairie Cemetery at 11:30 a.m. on July 13, 2008.

Celebration of life: July 13 from 1 to 5 p.m. at the American Legion Hall at Velva.

The Neptune Society of Northern California, Santa Rosa, handled arrangements in California.
